Kelsey Beckman
Welcome, Bobcats!
I am Kelsey Beckman, MYP Coordinator here at BOYCP! Previously I have taught Personal and Professional Skills, U.S. History, and was the Social Science Department Chair! This is my 11th year at Back of the Yards, and my 13th year teaching in CPS. As an IB school with a wall-to-wall MYP program, we want our students to be inquiring, knowledgeable, open-minded, courageous, principled, balanced, reflective, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. Our classes aim to do just this and build capacity in our students to be the incredible young people we know them to be!
Mrs. Beckman's Bio
I grew up in Des Plaines, IL, in the Northwest Suburbs of the city right next to O'Hare airport. I graduated from Maine West High School in 2009. After high school, I went to Illinois State University and graduated in 2013 with my bachelor's degree in History and Social Science Education. I went on to get my masters in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University and graduated in 2018. I had my daughter, Kennedy, in March of 2020 and my second daughter, Cameron, in September of 2024. I love being a mom! My husband and I live in Beverly with our daughters and dogs, Winston and Emmy. In my free time, I love to spend time with my family and friends, cook, travel, explore new restaurants, play sports, and binge Netflix/Hulu/Prime, etc. series. I always am looking for suggestions on what to watch!
