Engineering Design II-Periods 4/5 -- 10:45 a.m.

Course Description

This course teaches the design skills and technical computer-aided design (CAD) knowledge needed to develop inventions that address real-world problems. Over the course of the year, you will collaborate with a team of classmates and a non-profit community partner organization to identify and define a real-world problem, and invent and prototype a device that can help to address this problem. In the Spring, you and your team will participate in a Demo Day event where you will showcase your invention to community partners, and pitch your design to real potential investors and engineering industry partners. As you collaboratively develop your invention, you will also individually learn CAD software, which is used by professional engineers for product and industrial design. At the end of the year you will take the Fusion 360 Certified Professional exam, and earn an industry-recognized credential that demonstrates your ability to invent and model professional-level CAD designs. The goal of this course is to equip you with the technical knowledge and personal skills to be a creative, collaborative, socially responsible, and successful inventor.
