Turn off your cell phone.
We have all of this technology to make our lives easier, but a lot of us let ourselves become addicted to our phones, laptops, and PDAs.
SO when you are finished with school work, turn off your phone, your PDA, and your laptop. You might even turn off your mp3 player and listen to the quiet or think your own thoughts,
When you would like a break in the middle of the day, try taking a walk leaving all of your technical devices behind. YOu really don't need to be reachable at every moment of every day.

This week we will continue Problem Solving.
You will be solving a wide range of problems and the opportunity to experiment with a variety of solution strategies. This unit is an introduction to the problem-solving process. You will be asked to solve new problems by planning a strategy, designing and producing solutions, and then reflecting on the solutions and strategies.
Throughout the unit the emphasis will be on the process rather than the solution. Most of the world's problems today do not have single simple solutions. In order to contribute effectively to the solution of these problems, you need to be comfortable in a collaborative environment where multiple approaches are valued and encouraged and where failure is seen as part of the process toward a solution.

Identify communications mechanisms.
Title: Identify communications mechanisms.

2. As a team, complete one Jamboard set of slides by answering the questions that appear on the slide.
3. On the first slide:
a. List names and period on the title Jamboard.
4. On all remaining slides
a. answer the question by first writing what the question is really asking. Maybe a definition or explanation. Then,
b. List, provide images, or draw responses to each of the 3 slides.
c. I expect the slide to be full. A single response or only a couple is not adequate.
5. Closing Slides
a. In the group, decide which form of communication is most prevalent for each scenario.
b. Create/Answer the following questions:
i. imagine life without some or all of the computer-based communications mechanisms that we now take for granted.
ii. List some of the consequences of an absence of technology (for example: without cell phones, the ability to instantly reach anyone suddenly disappears)
iii. Conclude about the impact of the presence of the communications mechanism (for example: if the absence of cell phones means the lack of the ability to contact anyone, conclusion?)
6. You will share your responses with the class.
a. Check spelling
b. Images for clarity
c. Is it understandable
d. Are your ideas clear.
7. Decide how this will be presented? One person, all persons?
8. The more you provide, the better your grade. Remember we now have 5/6 more wake ups to improve your grade.

Your team will decide on the selection of a new computer to use for this project. Your task is to provide at least three options and then demonstrate to the class why you choose the one you will elaborate on. Decide who will present your project to the class. You might decide to have everyone speak on the slide they researched and created. Also, a great idea would be for each person to place their name on the drops (Slide) they made and they present thier slide (any method you have chosen).
The final product can be a:
• PowerPoint
* Peardeck
•Jamboard
Your final product should have: see the Exploring Computational Thinking, Computer Comparison Chart, and Rubric.
Your project should follow all guidelines found above.
It would be best if you were prepared to answer questions about your choices from other students.
Time is of the essence with that in mind, and you must divide up the workload. Someone does not do their part. It will be obvious if you are each presenting your work. You must be able to speak with understanding of the work. No stumbling, No shyness, No fooling around. This is worth 100 points.

Due:
Jamboard is one smart display. Quickly pull in images from a Google search, save work on a pdf or share, use the easy-to-read handwriting and shape recognition tool, and draw with a stylus but erase with your finger – just like a whiteboard.
Today's assignment is to use Jamboard or Google Slides to discuss what a computer is.
You will need to add some aspects to your slides or Jamboard.
1. Definition of a computer
2. Use words or pictures to illustrate the types of computers you see daily in your community, school, home, or city.
3. Once you have created an extensive list of computers from your daily life, put them into categories. You decide the name for each of the categories.
4. Use items along the top and the left side of the Jamboard to elevate your ideas to their best potential.
5. You must use a combination of things: you must use five items, at least. As in the text, then color the text, size the text, align the text, add a sticky note, images, or geometric symbols, change the background.
6. Directions for your first Jamboard are attached to this file.
