Why does the music change and what could that represent?

In order to complete this assignment well, you must use your findings from the previous assignment titled: Superhero Music Description No. 1.

Superhero Theme Music Description #1

Click on the link to open up the document you will be working on this next week. MAKE SURE TO READ THE DIRECTIONS.

We are working towards being more specific with our responses and describe the changes of music over time. This document is created to help you identify the five unique sections of music that cannot be described in the same way because new instruments are added, rhythms change, dynamics change, mood evolves, and melodies are changed using different pitches.

Due:

How does the music reinforce the scene? in Google Classroom

How does the music reinforce the scene?

You may focus on one section of the scene as broken up by the jamboard frame or the entire scene, it is up to you. must provide evidence from the scene using time stamps and use appropriate music vocabulary. Then you must comment on two other student's comments. A response is not just agreeing or disagreeing, you need to elaborate on why you do so and add to the conversation.

Pitch - How high or low a note is
Rhythm - How fast or slow notes are played
Dynamics - How loud or how soft a section of music is played
Instrumentation - What instruments are playing
Articulation - How is the sound articulated

Boy Band Unit 3 Summative Assessment in Google Classroom

Boy Band Unit 3 Summative Assessment

PROJECT DIRECTIONS
You are a gigging drummer and are auditioning for a spot to play in the live band that will be used for an up and coming boy band. As part of your audition requirements, the judging panel requests that you submit the following materials:

A sample of the music that showcases you playing the drumset with pre-recorded music. The sample must feature you playing either the eighth note or sixteenth note subdivision for one chorus and one verse. Include a picture of your groove so the panelists know what you are trying to play.
A discussion of the song used for the sample mentioned in the previous bullet point that focuses on the meaning of the song and its representation of the boy band aesthetic. Use evidence from our podcasts, class discussions, and anything from the music itself.
A discussion of your growth, development and reflections during the learning process of this project.

They want all of this information to be included in one Google Slide so they can project all of the candidates information without having to sort through different documents. The Google slide must be clearly labeled and the audio must be embedded in the slide to make it easy for the judging panel to review your materials.

TIPS

You must download your band lab project first and then add it to your drive so you can embed it into the slide.
My slide is just an example and it is kind of lame and boring. Make yours better! You can change whatever you want, but we only want one slide.
https://genius.com/ Is great tool find out the form of the song. Remember I only want one chorus and one verse back to back. If you include a pre-chorus that is okay too!

If you google the BPM of your song, it should come up so you can practice building up to a particular tempo if needed.

Due:

Groove and Subdivision Worksheet in Google Classroom

This assignment will be used to help you prepare for the final exam if completed in its entirety with effort shown on your part. In this post you will find the music video as well a the Document you will be working off of. The lyrics to the song are in the document as a hyperlink!

Your final will require you to complete something similar but with different music videos.

Semester 1 Final in Google Classroom

Semester 1 Final

There are three music selections listed below, but you are only required to complete the music analysis for two of the three. I am only grading two of these and if you complete all three, I will grade the first two song options and not the third.

For each song option you will get a set of questions and a link to the lyrics. The music videos are posted separately on the Google Classroom post for the final. My suggestion is that you watch/listen to all three videos and then choose the two that peak your interest the most.

All in all, your job is to answer the following question: TO WHAT EXTENT DOES THIS SAMPLE REPRESENT OR EMBODY THE DISCO GENRE? In order to find that answer you must first answer the questions for each song listed underneath section one. This will help provide evidence for you to then synthesize your findings in a paragraph format for the second section.

Ignore grade on GC. You will be graded as follows for each video and will receive two grades in gradebook for the finals category.

100 = 15-16
90 = 13-14
85 = 11-12
80 = 9-10
75 = 7-8
70 = 5-6
65 = 2-4
50 = not attempted

BandLab Check in #3

So far you should have the following sections in your composition:

- Intro (varied measures)
- Verse 1 (16 measures)
- Chorus (16 measures)
- Verse 2 (16 measures)
- Bridge (at least 16 measures but more would be better)

For this third checkpoint we are going to be adding the following to our projects after the bridge. You need to add four more sections. Here are your options, although you could choose something else if you talk to me first. Each section should be 16 measures long, while the outro can vary and I am going to leave that up to you to give you freedom to choose there for whatever works best with your composition.

(A) Verse - Chorus - Outro
(B) Chorus - Verse - Chorus - Outro
(C) Verse - Chorus - Verse - Outro
(D) Verse - Chorus - Verse - Chorus - Outro

I also encourage you to take some liberties in the verses and try to make each one a tiny bit different from the previous one to give it some variety.

- Finish your first verse and label the measures in your notes

TUESDAY
- Create your first chorus and label the measures in your notes
- Create a second verse slightly different from the first verse and label the measures in your notes
----- Remember that you can change the second verse by adding/subtracting an instrument, changing an effect, or even changing volume

Unit 1 Final Music Investigation in Google Classroom

Unit 1 Final Music Investigation

You are tasked with conducting your own music analysis in a similar fashion that was conducted two weeks ago with your group but you are going to be given a stricter time line to follow. In this post, you will be given everything you need to be successful and directions that should help you long the way!
*****THE COMMERCIAL THAT YOU SELECT MUST HAVE MUSIC*****

1. As stated above, you need to make sure that you select a commercial that has music. Once you find it, please include that link here in this post (DO NOT HIT SUBMIT)
2. The Unit 1 Commercial Music Study and Analysis Statement document is where you will be inputting all of your work. You will first complete the Music Study portion to help you write down your observation. Although this grade will not appear here in Google Classroom, it will be accounted for in ASPEN.
----For the first section notice that you only need to fill out 3-5 boxes of that section.
----For the second section notice that you only need to fill out 2-3 boxes of that section.
3. Once you have your Music Study completed, then you will synthesize your ideas into a music analysis statement that will be typed into the white box underneath the text that says Music Analysis Statement.
4. As you work through revising your statement make sure that you interpret the music and what it causes in the commercial or to you as a listener. Below you will see a good example and a bad example of a sentence using rhythm.
------GOOD: The music uses fast rhythms throughout the commercial causing one to feel tension and uneasiness as the persistence of the music feels as if the listener were being sonically attacked.
------BAD: The music uses fast rhythms.
5. Once you are done with every component, then you will hit submit.

Here is my suggested schedule that you should follow so you can complete this in time.
MONDAY - Have (Find) your commercial selected and complete the first or second section of the music study.

TUESDAY - Complete the entire music study.

WEDNESDAY - If you did not finish the music study, finish it today. I know it is a work day, but I would suggest getting started on your music analysis statement.

THURSDAY - Begin your music analysis statement by coming up with a main idea or claim about the commercial. Your goal for the whole statement is to answer the following questions: HOW DOES THE MUSIC WORK WITH THE COMMERCIAL TO MOTIVATE YOU TO DO SOMETHING (PURCHASE A PRODUCT, DONATE MONEY, ETC.)? and make sure that you interpret the music that you identified in your music study and that every thing you mention ties back to your answer the question listed in this step.

FRIDAY - Finish and submit your assignment!
