Girls Who Code

Applications are NOW OPEN for our

2026–2027 Girls Who Code at UIC Club!

Girls Who Code at UIC is a year-round program for students in grades 9–12 throughout the Chicagoland area. Students will have the opportunity to build their coding and technology skills, work on hands-on projects, and connect with UIC engineering students and instructors in a fun and supportive environment.

 

------------- Important Program Highlights Below -------------

  • No prior coding experience is required! We are beginner friendly!
  • Open to ALL high school students, regardless of gender identity

------------- We Have Four Learning Levels! -------------

  • Beginner Level: Introduction to Programming in Python
  • Intermediate Level: Web Development with HTML & CSS
  • Advanced Level I: Hardware & Circuit Building
  • Advanced Level II: Embedded Systems & Smart Sensors

------------- REQUIREMENTS -------------

  • Be a high school student during the 2026–2027 academic year (some exceptions may be granted);
  • Have access to WiFi and a computer with a camera and microphone;
  • Have access to Zoom;
  • Be eager to learn programming and/or strengthen coding skills already acquired;
  • Be willing to commit to the full program and regularly attend Saturday sessions throughout the 2026–2027 academic year.
