Due:
Feel free to work with peers who are attending the same college or university--but be sure you each put your OWN IB information in the final box on the table. Some resources won't have locations or hours, and that's okay; just be aware that they are resources your tuition and fees likely cover.
Due:
Look through TED to find a TED Talk of personal interest. (Tip: Use the “Topics” drop down → “see all topics” function if you don’t have a search term/idea at the top of your mind).
Copy the URL of your chosen TED Talk into today’s “Question” (HERE), also noting the title and speaker.
Watch your chosen TED Talk.
Read the transcript of your chosen TED Talk.
You can use this talk as your talking point for the Week 34 options assignment.
If you finish early, please feel free to work on other tasks independently.

Due:
With consideration that all IB tasks for English A: Literature HL are FINISHED 🎉 and in consideration of the fact that many students still have work to complete for other IB courses (with looming deadlines!), please share your readiness to resume content coverage for THIS class! Please remember that work load will intentionally be light and that the remainder of this course be focused upon reading literature for natural curiosity's sake. Whenever we resume content coverage, we will start with a set of short stories.
Due:
You will need your student ID number and your birth date to take the survey. Once you finish the survey, please mark it as submitted here.
Due:
Your Group 1 IB assessments are FINISHED! WHEW! YOU DID IT! Tell me about your other DP/CP Progress (looming deadlines and your own progress): Group 2 (language); Group 3 (history); Group 4 (science); Group 5 (math); Group 6 (visual arts or glo po). Don't forget CAS, EE (done, right?), and TOK/PPS.
Should we revisit THE HANDMAID'S TALE to finish it, or should we move on?
Are there titles that you've always wanted to study but never have? What are they?
Are there genres that you prefer (short stories, interviews, poems, anything)? What are they?
What do you want from this class between now and June?

💯 Please remember that IB allows me ONLY to comment on your first draft. Therefore, it is imperative that you do two things:
1) have a trusted peer check your document for grammar, usage, and mechanics; and
2) submit your very best draft possible, imagining that THIS draft were the one going to IB in Cardiff.
That way, when I give you feedback, you should only have to make a few adjustments and will have a solid external assessment to submit in February. Remember that this assessment comprises 25% of your score for English A: Literature HL! You should check yourself against the rubric as well.
2️⃣ Please submit your draft in TWO places: here in Google Classroom AND in your account at TurnItIn.com. By submitting this draft, you certify that both copies are IDENTICAL and that the work contained within them is ENTIRELY your own. All quoted and paraphrased materials MUST be cited and included in your bibliography. We will work on formatting the essay in class the week of October 19.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions or need clarification.
