Interdisciplinary Projects

"Interdisciplinary learning supports students to understand bodies of knowledge from two or more disciplines or subject groups, in order to integrate them and create new understanding." -IBO-MYP

Currently, BOYCP MYP students engage in three interdisciplinary units:

  • Year 4 (freshmen) Language Acquisition and Language and Literature (English) students learn about the structure of traditional myths and legends, then the students write a myth or legend formatted as a bi-lingual children's book.

  • Year 4 (freshmen) Science, Mathematics, and Individual and Societies (social science) classes engage students in an inquiry of globalization and sustainability through research on the effects of environmental issues.  The students take action on this research by suggesting a solution and calling for action through awareness campaigns, letters to elected officials, support of local organizations, and social media posts.

  • Year 5 (sophomores) tackle issues of race in America in their Individual and Societies (socials societies) and Language and Literature (English) classes.  Students engage in extended research while reading perspectives from authors such a W.E.B. DuBois, Paolo Fraire, Moustafa Bayoumi, Malcolm X, James Baldwin, and Martin Luther King Jr.
