Personal Project

During year 5 of the MYP, or sophomore year, all students at Back of the Yards College Prep complete a Personal Project. This project is a time for students to learn about, explore, and take action on a topic they choose.  Some students choose to learn to do something hands-on like fixing a car, learning to sew, or designing a robot.  Other students choose to learn to express themselves through learning new forms of art and music. Others choose to learn about social causes by taking action in their communities.  The product and the process are equally important to the successful completion of the Personal Project. To help monitor the process students keep a process journal and log at least forty hours of work on the research and action.
