Ms. Maggie Slavin
Hi there! My name is Maggie Slavin, and I am very excited to be on staff this year at BOYCP! Overall, I have been teaching for six years. I am originally from a small agricultural community about 2 hours west of Chicago, almost at the Iowa border! Before becoming a Bobcat, I received my Master's in Education at the City University of New York. While earning my degree, I taught 8th grade in the Bronx before accepting a Fulbright grant to Jordan, where I assisted the Jordanian Ministry of Education in developing educational programming for Syrian refugee kiddos (pictured on the right! <3)
Upon completion of the Fulbright program, I went on to receive a second Master's degree in Education Development from University College London in the U.K. When I returned home to the U.S., I continued teaching in Brooklyn, NY for 3 more years before arriving back home to Illinois. When I'm not teaching, you can find me traveling, playing the piano, or working on Arabic calligraphy art.
I am SO excited to meet all my students and families this year. Please feel very welcome to reach out to me at [email protected]!
