Caila Dela Cruz
This will be my first year teaching full time, and although it will be an unconventional year with remote learning, I am so excited to be a part of the BOYCP community! I graduated in 2018 with a B.A. in Teaching of French from University of Illinois at Chicago. I then stayed at UIC for the M.A. program in French and Francophone Studies, from which I graduated in the spring. During my time at UIC I completed my student teaching at Benito Juarez Community Academy and then taught for UIC's French Basic Language Program.
Aside from my passions for teaching and language learning, I have many other hobbies and interests. I love animals! I have a rabbit and two parakeets. I am a music lover as well; I have played piano and guitar since childhood. Some other long-standing hobbies of mine are reading and playing video games--this year I've been obsessed with Animal Crossing : New Horizons. I dabble in watercolor painting, macramé, and embroidery too, and I've been working on cultivating a more sustainable / eco-friendly lifestyle.
That being said, I know what it's like to have a lot of interests and feel pulled in many directions! In class I plan to provide plenty of opportunities to explore many different topics and skills through learning about the French language and Francophone cultures.
A bientôt !
