About Zuley Gonzalez
Hello! My name is Zuley Gonzalez, this will be my third year at Back of the Yards College Prep. My first year I spent in this building, I completed my student teaching with English II. The following years, I have taught both English I and English IV. This will be my 5th year living in Chicago and I feel as if I can finally call it home. I am excited to continue teaching at this school and hope to see many of you in my virtual classroom, the American Sign Language Club, and the Cheerleading team.
As an educator my pedagogy has been shaped by both my own experiences and the wonderful resources and knowledge I have gained through others. My experiences as a first generation Mexican college graduate have inspired my work and mission to be equitable and culturally responsive in the community I teach. I strongly believe that representation in the classroom is important for students to thrive and succeed. It is for this very reason that prior and cultural knowledge is valued in my classroom. It is imperative for myself as a teacher to cultivate an environment where all my students feel valued and celebrated.
