Theory of Knowledge

The course is the questions. The interdisciplinary theory of knowledge (TOK) course is designed to develop a coherent approach to learning that transcends and unifies academic areas and encourages appreciation of other cultural perspectives. The TOK course, a flagship element in the Diploma Programme, encourages critical thinking about knowledge itself. It strives to help young people make sense of what they encounter in all facets of life. Its core content is questions like these: What counts as knowledge? How do we manipulate knowledge? How do we explore the limits of knowledge? Who owns knowledge? Where does knowledge derive its value? What are the implications of having, or not having, knowledge?

This is most definitely the coolest class I have ever taught. It is student centered and allows for people to grow and press their intellect in different areas that are important to the individual. This class is exactly what you make of it, and for me- it is an incredible pleasure everyday to be in this room!
